David Kahn, the owner of Bespoke & Co., has twenty-nine
years of experience in the apparel business. He grew up in Moorestown, NJ a suburb
of Philadelphia, PA. The late seventies gave birth to the ‘preppy’ era which began
David’s infatuation with better clothing as he admired current icons such as Ralph
Lauren and René Lacoste. Philadelphia offered extensive exposure to a variety of
cultural arts such as fine art and the theatrical performing arts. Living less than
two hours from New York City enabled David the opportunity to develop a fervor for
style and fashion which has evolved into his passion for custom clothing. While
attending college in Keene, NH, David worked in a men’s and women’s clothing store
where he learned every aspect of the clothing business and began to hone his skills
and expand his knowledge of the fashion industry.
David’s career experience ranges from working with wholesale clothing manufacturers
like Pincus Bros.-Maxwell/Bill Blass, to general management, merchandising and buying
for companies such as Nordstrom, Mitchell’s of Westport, Paul Stuart and Hugo Boss.
David’s success rate and education from each of his retail endeavors have been instrumental
in paving the way to his current focus on custom tailored, or bespoke, clothing.
Currently, David dresses some of Tampa’s most successful executives, prominent local
attorneys and professional athletes, coaches and administrators from the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Tampa Bay Rays. His client list is
certainly comprised of the local who’s who of the entire Tampa Bay area.
David and his wife Deborah live in Westchase, a Tampa suburb, with their three children
Mason, Adelaide and Campbell.
Dan Shreeve, in partnering with Bespoke & Co., brings
twenty-four years of experience in the local apparel industry. A native to central
Florida, Dan has lived in Tampa since 1977. Heavily influenced by the Italian clothing
movement to the US in the mid to late 1980’s, Dan developed an affinity for fine
tailored clothing. In particular, he favors the styling and collections of Ermenezildo
Zegna, Giorgio Armani and Canali, fashion pioneers in the better men’s apparel arena.
Dan’s desire to understand the individual needs of his clients helped to fine tune
his merchandising skills which played a large role in his responsibilities as a
merchandiser and display coordinator.
Dan began his clothing career with Surrey’s in 1987, after a brief stint in the
grocery business. Rapidly moving through the ranks, by the age of twenty-two, Dan
was promoted into his first role as a General Manager. After seven years with Surrey’s,
Dan was recruited by Jacobson’s where he began his familiarity with custom clothing.
Here Dan learned multiple techniques as it related to custom fitting and developed
a heightened sense of style and fashion. Dan became a familiar fixture in the local
clothing market and, in 1997, was hired by Kirby’s Men’s Wear for his experience
in the South Tampa community. Over his fourteen years with Kirby’s, Dan developed
a significant trade and continued to further his knowledge of the men’s wear business,
not only in his sales role, but also as a buyer and merchandiser. For the past seventeen
years, Dan has worked to skew his preferences toward custom clothing primarily because
of his desire to create clothing tailored specifically and exclusively for each
of his individual clients based on their personal habits, taste and unique style.
Dan’s client list is comprised typically of prominent local attorneys and top business
professionals.
Dan currently resides in Temple Terrace.
